Let’s take an example to understand more. Suppose you have a business that sells fresh vegetables and fruits. In that case, your primary keywords will be ‘fresh farm vegetables and fruits,’ ‘fresh vegetables and fruits,’ ‘farm to table,’ ‘organic vegetables and fruits’ and more. The primary and secondary keywords give a proper, yet the complete view of your business. When a user types’ fresh vegetables in Meerut’ your website appears on the search engines. The Right Way to Optimize Your Website
First of all, before we begin, you need to understand that SEO is an umbrella term and contains two basic categories – On-Page SEO and Off-Page SEO.
On-page SEO is all about working on your website to make it more readable for the audience. Again, it is all about keyword optimization. Each webpage of your website needs five essential elements which are as follows:-
- SEO Title
- Meta Description
- Page Content
- Image Optimization
A page title determines the true essence of the webpage. The title must contain the keyword and also, should explain about the respective webpage.
For example, suppose you are running a farm, and you are selling ‘fresh farm vegetables and fruits‘ or ‘Vegetables Near Me’. Then your page title can be ‘Fresh Farm Vegetables and Fruits from Farm| Meerut,’ or ‘Farm Fresh Organic Vegetables & Fruits – FREE HOME DELIVERY‘ and more.
There are two most important things to remember. First, try to keep the title within its character limits, i.e. 50 – 60 characters only. Secondly, add the page title in the page content as H1 tag.

A page description explains further about your page title. It gives the user the reason to click the link and further explore.
For example, your page description can be ‘Get fresh farm vegetables and fruits from us in Meerut. Our products are chemical-free, hence giving you a healthy choice,’ or ‘Get fresh farm vegetables and fruits at your doorstep – FREE HOME DELIVERY available above ₹ 500! Buy our chemical-free and organically grown produce’.
You can add only your primary or both primary and secondary keywords in the product description, but remember, keep it short and simple, yet informative but only in 50 – 160 characters.
The page content is the detail explanation of the webpage. It needs to have the right flow of words that is user and reader-friendly. Do not overload the content with challenging vocabulary. Understand your audience and go ahead and create content on that understanding.
Google loves a webpage with rich content with the right keyword optimization. You can have the content between 500-100 and even more words. Remember, the quality matters here!
The other factor that matters is the keyword density. Your keyword density should always be between 1-2% (Keyword Density = Keywords/Total Words * 100). For example, if your content is around 800 words with keywords repeating 17X, then 15/800*100 = 1.81%. You should always measure the keyword density to avoid keyword stuffing, which affects your SEO and Google Penalty will take your website down entirely.
Image optimization is one of the essential components of SEO, yet many companies ignore it. Every image on the web page should be optimized with the right set of keywords, starting from the banner, side images, info-graphics, to even videos.
A user when searching for the keywords in the ‘image search’ can also end up at the website, hence, increasing your website traffic. So, image optimization is vital for SEO too.
The most important part is to maintain a healthy image dimension. If the images are heavy, it’ll affect the site’s speed, hence, increasing your bounce rate.

Off-Page SEO is a secondary, yet an important part of digital marketing. It is all about actions taken particularly outside the website which impacts your website ranking deeply, and back-links are the vital part of it.
